When Bad Things Happen: The Stockholm Attack & Earthquakes in Philippines…

This post will be in English as it is the best way for me to express what I want to say today.

I was not raised in Sweden but I am living in the Capital, Stockholm. I have lived most of my life abroad and since moving here, I have had my challenges with the people and culture of my own citizenship. I have always felt the disconnect and conservative behavior and especially being a Swede but not being considered one has always made it difficult for me to consider Sweden home…However. The behavior and feeling yesterday was completely different. The love and support of strangers taking in people and offering help or lending a hand is indescribable.

Just out of a meeting with two fantastic women, I planned on taking the metro home or to Åhléns since I was there yesterday and did an oxygen boost at Elizabeth Ardens new stand.  I wanted to try the detox but while standing in one of the trams I decided to just continue on home instead and do the boost next week instead. Just as I stepped out of the tram, my phone started exploding. Just short messages of panic: “Where are you?” “Are you at Åhléns?” “Are you ok?”… I learnt that the lorry rammed right into the beauty department at Åhléns City. Where I was just deciding not to go.

I have friends and loved ones that work at Åhléns and my first reaction was to try to get a hold of them. I know that phones are a no-no on the floor and Åhléns has good management that would take care of their people. Now it was the waiting game. How will those trapped in stores or nearby get home? By not jumping off the tram at that time, I missed those minutes. I was close by. Safe…but not safe. A feeling of not knowing but knowing that people were reaching out and helping in any way they could. I am thankful to the kindness of strangers, the police, medical teams and other moving parts that rushed to the scene when we all were trying to get as far away as possible.

And.. on the other side of the world, My parents experiencing the ground below them shaking with tremors from the Earthquakes in the Philippines. I recently learnt that there was a 5.2 magnitude hit South of Manila and the effects are still unknown. My parents are truly fantastic at coping through the crazy rainfalls and mother nature doing her thing..but being so far away from them and the uncertainty of if the Earthquakes would get worse or cause Tsunamis is worrisome.

The only point I want to get across in this post is that the world is just under so much pressure…Whether it is environmental, political, personal.. It is important to keep your close ones close and have perspective. Everyone reacts differently to situations so be considerate, be critical but have understanding and most importantly, support each other. We have enough hate in the world as it is.

❤️ Life is precious. Take care of each other. ❤️

CosmoPack, CosmoPrime & CosmoProf in Bologna, Italy

I thought I’d start with a quick overview and under the next few days, show you what I’ve seen and learnt at Cosmoprof 2017.

As I mentioned on my social media outlets Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram, I was having difficulty posting in general. My (mind you, new!) phone was just not having it and my photos were just too big to be uploaded in an apartment of 5 journalists. With that, we’ve had an intense few days and I do wish I could have been able to talk to more of the stands but the exhibition is pretty darn huge with over 60.000 visitors each year.

CosmoPack

The show kicked off with CosmoPack, which is all about packaging, design, manufacturing, raw materials and machinery… basically all you need if you are a decision maker in the industry.

I thought it was fantastic to see all the different possibilities available at CosmoPack. We saw machines and new innovative packaging that I do hope to see in the market soon!

CosmoPrime

Within Cosmopack was a new section called CosmoPrime in which visitors were able to see the Extraordinary Gallery as well as Premium Perfumery. I thought it was pretty cool that this year they had Luca Maffei, AFM nose in partnership with Academia del profumo and perfume houses were present and since Cosmoprof has turned 50 years, they created a fragrance to celebrate!

The Boutique

An interesting concept at the exhibition this year was the Boutique. It is basically a shop for charity in which you find a bar filled with samples sponsored by companies. Visitors are able to pay a minimum of €10 and visitors are able to try the product and pick out 6 to take home. This year’s charity was a children’s cancer charity. The lines were incredibly long so huge success!

CosmoProf

I wish I could post the 1000+ photos of the exhibition but to be honest, I wasn’t able to check out all the stands and halls. Cosmoprof was split into different halls and categories and even had some separate little “tents” such as that from Make Up Forever and also Montagne Jeunesse! I will go into further detail on a few of the interesting stands I saw in an upcoming post!

What would you like to see? Hair? Cosmetics? Machines? Let me know in the comments and I will start there!
/Vad vill ni se först? Hår? Kosmetik? Maskiner?

A Culinary Day in Bologna, Italy

Welcome to Italy and Bologna! Our first day was getting settled and experiencing the food greats: Cheese, Pasta, and Wine…

Signorvino

In one of the corners of Piazza Maggiore is Signorvino, a winery type restaurant with knowledgeable staff and very tasty food.

We also got around to purchasing a few necessities for the apartment as we will be here for a week!

Olives, Toilet paper and water…

We found this quirky little restaurant that looked like a bar but not really and so we decided to take a glass of wine in this environment. Pretty cool deco! Just a stone throw away from Basilica di San Martino Maggiore, and is called La Prosciutteria!

Yes, all complete with the cleaning bottle and all haha! ;) This place apparently is usually extremely packed but when we got there it was completely empty! I have read that the restaurant is known for good apetifs and the unique atmosphere.

Restaurante Alice

While everyone else took powernaps and I caught up on work so I was completely battered by the end of the night. BUT. We booked a table at Restaurante Alice and I was not one to pass up the opportunity for even more tastes and it really did not disappoint.
MEN.

I know this post was not at all beauty related but for those of you looking for restaurant tips in Bologna, these three are definitely ones to look into!

Lost Track… Sorry!

For those who aren’t interested in me and personal posts, the only thing you need to read is:  I’ll be back with more beauty related posts soon. For the rest of you, Well hello. I’ve been feeling quite lost lately. So motivation to write in the blog… 0%. I’m sorry. This is why.

Blog.
I have so many amazing things to show but since I have been focusing everything that I have…time, energy, focus…everything…in my new job, I feel overwhelmed with the change that even though I have taken photos, I just haven’t had the feels to write what I think about them or any inspiration of using beauty products. (Of course, with exception for the amazing Moschino fragrance I had to blog about directly!) I have been changing up my skincare and gotten a number of new polishes to play with but again. Once I’m feeling better I will get around to showing you all some new stuff.

Work.
I think I may be a little off also because of work. My work-partner in crime is about to have a baby, leaving me to take the reigns at work and I am not feeling as confident in creating the relationships that are needed for this roll… Relationships I haven’t had time to build in order to do my job. Don’t get me wrong. I love my job. I like my coworkers/bosses and I know I could do a good job…But with anyone I meet, I invest so much of my time and energy building up a foundation which takes time. Time I apparently do not have for this next deadline.

Physical.
My sleep rhythm is totally off or rather not even existing at the moment and I have started grinding my teeth which means that I have increased my stress level after fighting to keep it down. I’m worried that I may be slipping back into that me I was a few months back. I haven’t 100% separated my work from my private/personal time which I believe is taking a toll. As any new employee, I want to be able to prove that I can and that I am the right person for the job. But am I?

I have started eating better, drinking more water (which is huge for those of you who know me!) and also bringing in Yoga in my morning routine just to make sure I am keeping my body balance. Hopefully it will help me get back to my regular routine.

For those of you who read through this, thanks for “listening.” I’ll be back, Just need some time!

Chi Chi Clothing * Gorgeous Dresses, Sad Fit.

So I pulled out my card and bought myself two dresses for the Gala next week and the dresses finally arrived. I was soo excited since they are perfect A-line with lace. My favorite combination in a dress for my round body. I opened my package and two BEAUTIFUL dresses with gorgeous embroidery and I bought them both on sale so it was just win-win all the way! I bought both dresses a size larger than I normally am as I thought that if they were too big, I could get them altered rather than chancing on sending them back and waiting for the package to come in. I even bought two dresses just in case the gold and blue just didn’t work with my complexion.

So you can see, absolutely BEAUTIFUL dresses and on sale for approximately 400kr each. However. When I pulled them up, I could only get the zipper half way! My boobs were just not having it and my over arms were just too fat. *CRY*!! So I just left a return package back to chi chi with these amazingly beautiful dresses and yet again, I am dress-less for the gala next week..

I’m seriously now considering a one piece. Maybe I can bling it out with rhinestones and sequins?

The decision of curtain ties… * Home Deco

Renovating and decorating is a never ending process! I would know since only 2 years later I’m looking at curtain ties! We have an old english theme to our apartment. Not all the way nautical but still some touches of navy blue and beige. I just recently purchase pretty flowery curtains but we want them to be pulled back a bit but finding curtain ties is a difficult task!  I know that curtain ties aren’t very popular here in Sweden but growing up you couldn’t have curtains without them (and also a rod cover so you don’t see the top of the curtains..also something not so popular here!)

Anyway. These are the ones I’ve come down to:

All of these are gorgeous and easily found on Ebay, but again. Question is. Which ones should I go for? Should they be different for each room like the curtains?

Decisions.

Monday Matters | Back from London & New Job

Where have I been? I have been MIA and for good reason!

After the DaisyBeauty Expo, I took a long weekend in London on the 19th until yesterday evening. A bit of a spontaneous trip and well worth it. Here you can see just a few of the sights I walked around the city to see. I ate good comfort food (KFC, Dominos, Chipotle… you know, what we don’t have in Sweden haha!), went shopping (primark was a must… a few times…) and just spent time outdoors and creating blisters on my feet. Perfect long weekend.

London trip

As you may have seen, the blog has been quiet lately and it has just been because I have been trying to take some me time and try to gather my energy after this weirdly started year. Just a few days after being laid off, I was given the opportunity to start working with Daisy Beauty Magazine which I started today and I am very thankful and excited for the opportunity.

It has been a very rough January and I believe things are looking up. I did realize that though I have gone through so much worse and after getting a pretty hard beating this time around, I really needed to take the time off and get back from just being able to keep my head above water to being able to breathe again.

I hope you all understand! I promise after getting settled into the new job that I would be back to regular reviews, looks and all that wonderful stuff. I do have a lot to share.

Much Love, Jasmine
